Congratulations, Sebastian Vettel!

For being the youngest 4x World Champion winning four consecutive years. For having a record-equaling 13 race wins in a season. And for a record-breaking 9 consecutive victories in a season.

Sebastian Vettel: Abu Dhabi GP 2013

Sebastian Vettel has equalled Michael Schumacher's record of seven consecutive rounds of the championship with his victory in Abu Dhabi. However, Alberto Ascari won nine races he entered in a row in 1952-1953 (he missed Indy 500 in '53).

Congratulations, Sebastian Vettel!

Vettel makes history as the youngest F1 driver to win four World Drivers' Championships in a row after winning the Indian Grand Prix 2013. With Vettel's win, Red Bull has also clinched the Constructors' Championship four consecutive times.

Third pole in a row for Vettel in Korea!

Sebastian Vettel starts the race tomorrow sharing the front row of the grid with Lewis Hamilton and Romain Grosjean. Mark Webber originally qualified third, but because of his 10-place grid penalty, he will now start on 13th place.

Singapore Grand Prix 2013

Sebastian Vettel has just won the SG Grand Prix extending his Championship lead to a clear 60 points. Vettel dominated the GP by taking pole position, setting the fastest lap in the race, and winning the race while leading from start to finish, which means that he picked up his third Grand Chelem. He is now side-by-side with Nelson Piquet on the all-time record.

I wasn't able to catch the podium interview, but I read that there were again boos aimed at Vettel. Even Martin Brundle (interviewer) was ticked off by it that he had to say that's "not correct" to the crowd. Cool as ever, Vettel jokingly replied that maybe they're on a bus and are being ferried to each race.

I understand that to a lot of fans (I'm assuming Alonso's and Hamilton's),  it's getting quite boring since he always wins, but do they really have to boo Vettel and Red Bull because they're doing great? Maybe they need to direct those boos to Mercedes and Ferrari because they just can't seem to match the great job that RBR is doing.

Euro Cup 2012: Final

After a month of frequenting the Biergarten for public viewings, thank goodness the Euro Cup is done. Congratulations to Spain, and better luck next time, Germany.

Wimbledon 2012

So it's almost over. Finally, I can be more productive. I have been glued to the TV the past week watching tennis. Funny thing is, I don't even love the sport nor have actually tried to play it. It's one of those things that gets you addicted somehow.

Anyway, tomorrow is the women's finals, and because Lisicki is out, I'll be cheering for Radwanska. I'm not sure why, but I can't seem to bring myself to like Serena Williams especially after seeing her horrendously short outfits on the court.  And, of course, because of that little outburst of hers a year ago.

In the men's singles finals, there's Federer and Murray. I was actually hoping that Tsonga would win, but oh well. I'll be rooting for Federer because he's old like me. Plus, I find him to be such a classy and graceful player. Such finesse in how he plays! Definitely one of the tennis greats. Hopefully, he wins and go down in history by joining Sampras with 7 Wimbledon titles.

I was looking at some tweets about the match earlier, and this one is my favourite so far:

From Chris Shelford on Twitter: "When Roger Federer retires, he can replace HawkEye. This man just does not get challenges wrong, ever."

How To Watch The Euro Cup 2012

Quarterfinal match: Germany vs Greece

This is where you watch football:

Stuttgart Beergarden Euro Cup 2012
In a massive beergarden
Schlossgarten Biergarten
where 3 hours before the game, most of the tables are occupied

German Fans Celebrate Win Over Greece
and fans come out wearing jerseys, face paint and carrying big-ass flags.

This is where you sit:

At a table 2 rows down from the huge screen

and right beside where the beers are sold.

And this is how you celebrate:

Wave your arms like crazy, scream your lungs out and light up fireworks.

Congregate on the streets making it a b*tch for cars to pass.

Drive down to the city center while honking your car horns. More chanting, screaming and partying.

This was just the quarterfinals. Imagine how crazy it would be if Germany actually wins the Euro Cup?!?

European GP 2012

So, guess who took pole position for the third straight time in Valencia? Why, Sebastian Vettel of course!

Vettel will share the front row of the grid with Lewis Hamilton while Pastor Maldonado will be starting third. Seb edged out Hamilton and Maldonado by more than three-tenths of a second which is more than the gap covering the entire top ten in Q2. GO SEB!

Vettel Wins the Singapore 2011 Grand Prix!

Sebastian Vettel wins his 9th Grand Prix of the season and is only one point shy of being back-to-back World Champion. Only Button stands a slim chance of stealing the championship from Vettel and that is if Jenson wins all the remaining five races with Seb not getting a single point.

Congratulations, Seb!

Red Bull 1-2 in Singapore F1 2011 Qualifying!

Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber take the front row for tomorrow's Singapore Grand Prix. Too bad I'm not there to witness it. Now back to sulking.

Nice job guys! Let's got for three trophies tomorrow!

Friday, September 23, 2011

I'm happy it's Friday but definitely devastated that I'm not going to Singapore for the F1 Grand Prix this weekend.

So I'm not going to the GP, where my driver Vettel, can possibly seal his 2nd consecutive World Championship title.

Been checking for flights up until last night but even if I finally agree to spend twice the usual amount for tickets to SG, I still wouldn't be able to get in the track as tickets are sold out. Boo. Another GP that I'll be watching only on TV.

WTF was I thinking?

Played in the M&M Ultimate league yesterday after a five-month hiatus. Spent half of my Sunday guarding and running after kids 10+ years younger than me. Really bad idea. I'm aching all over.

Awesome K-Swiss Video Feat. Kenny Powers as CEO

I owned a pair of K-Swiss back in the 90's. Thinking of getting a new pair after watching this video. Hilarious! I wonder if there'll ever be a Philippine company with enough balls to produce a digital campaign like this.

Visit the K-Swiss YouTube channel to watch more videos of MFCEO Kenny Powers.

Sril Lanka vs Azkals 2014 WC Asian Qualifiers Round 1

The Philippine Azkals played Sri Lanka Brave Reds on Wednesday, June 29, for the first round of the 2014 World Cup Asian Qualifiers. We were supposed to watch with a group of friends at the National Sports Grill in Makati, however, said friends who came up with the idea opted to spend the earlier part of the afternoon getting toasted and forgot to reserve a table. Great. Good thing we saw a friend who was already there so we asked if we could share his table.

NSG already full an hour before the game

a goal (a free kick)  from 30 yards on the 43rd minute

Halftime Azkals vs Sri Lanka

And the crowd celebrates the equalizer on the 50th minute

It's amazing how suddenly almost everyone is into football. There were a lot of chanting, cheering, people wearing Younghusband jerseys and guys with Azkals scarves that night. One has to wonder though if all these people really understand and love football or are just cheering because there are a few pretty faces in the team.

To sum up the game, I shall refer to a friend's text: "Horrible. It's more painful than a root canal."

Hopefully, they do better on July 3rd when they'll play in Manila and have home advantage.

The Chicago Bulls Are Back!!!

I have not watched an NBA game since the Bulls won their 2nd 3-peat in 1998. These were the guys who made it interesting for me (plus their awesome bench in Kerr, Kukoc, Wennington, Brown, Buechler).

After watching the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals, I think it's time to come out of the woodwork.
Thanks to these guys.
