Juicy Burgers in Stuttgart

Head to The Burger Republic downtown for tasty, juicy, and reasonably-priced burgers. Aside from using local (from the region) ingredients, they also use fresh-ground beef daily. The Burger Republic also caters to the non-meat eaters by offering a Veggie burger with Portobello mushrooms, Romaine lettuce, Gouda-Basil cottage cheese, and home-made Herb butter.

Mexican Food in Stuttgart

We used to travel to Reutlingen for Viva Mexico's authentic Mexican food. Now that they've closed, we're thankful that there's another Mexican place in Stuttgart that we can go to.

Mezcal Hoch Zwei (Mezcal²) is more of a tasting room, therefore, their menu is somewhat a bit limited. It's mostly a Mezcaleria where you can sample a variety of Mezcal as well as food specialties from the different areas of Mexico.

Michelada while waiting for our food

Tacos al Pastor - corn tortilla with pork, pineapple,
Mexican  marinade, lime, and coriander

Tostada de Mole - crunchy corn tortilla, chicken,
cream, mole, and fresh cheese

Also ordered the Tacos Azteca which are potatoes in crunchy blue corn tortillas. As someone who likes crunchy food, I wolfed the dish down before remembering to snap a photo.

While Viva Mexico's food is better, I still think that Mezcal Hoch Zwei is worth a visit particularly for their Mezcal offerings. Like mentioned, Mezcal² is more a tasting room than a restaurant, so one cannot really compare the two.

I will definitely be back for more Micheladas and Tacos Azteca, and maybe even try their drink called Hoch Zwei!

For reservations and contact details, visit Mezcal² Facebook page. Click here for their menu.

American Food in Stuttgart

I was craving for a big, fat, and juicy burger a few weeks ago and so I got excited when I saw this deal of TC Original American BBQ on DailyDeals Deutschland. For only 14 Euros, you already get 2 sets of burgers, fries, salad, and a drink.

American Food in Stuttgart

Coming from a country which doesn't have strict laws regarding false advertising or consumer protection, I wasn't expecting for the meal to remotely resemble what was on the photo. Imagine my surprise when the food arrived on our table.

Burger, fries, salad, and a drink!

TC Original American BBQ Stuttgart
My photos don't do it justice but the servings were huge!

The place is not in a commercial area and people not from that part of town might have a not so easy time finding it.  I guess this is why they are doubling their efforts to advertise the place. They gave us a free plate of babyback ribs to sample since I believe that is what they really want to be known for and the burger deal is just a way to entice people to give them a try.  I must say, the ribs are delicious! Tender, juicy, and just the right amount of smokiness. Never got to take a photo since it was gone as soon as it arrived on our table.

Man vs Food. Man loses.

We are definitely planning on heading back there for more of their babyback ribs.

If you find yourself in or near Hallschlag (it is very near the army base), and have a craving for American food, do visit TC BBQ.

Wine Walk at Uhlbach

Going to another wine walk this weekend since the first one I went to a couple of weeks ago was so much fun. This is one of the things I like in this city. There's a lot of outdoorsy stuff you can do instead of just the usual hanging out at malls and getting shit-faced in bars.

This wine walk is 10 minutes from our place, about 4 kilometers long and consists of  6 stations where you can taste different wines from the area. It actually is pretty cool since you drink and at the same time get some sort of a workout.

Hopefully, the weather cooperates.

An Afternoon of Zen...tea

I was finally able to visit Zentea along Mother Ignacia over the weekend. Thankfully, traffic along EDSA was not so horrible that it took us less than an hour to get there.

I've tried several milk tea places before so I wasn't really expecting much with regard to how different Zentea tastes compared to the others.

I started with the Autumn Tea which, I was told, was one of their bestsellers. I found it tastier and better unlike some of the others I've tried which tasted a bit watered-down and bland.

Having enough milk and jello to last me a week, I decided to switch to their green tea offerings and chose 3Berries (strawberry, blueberry and grape).

I loved this tea. It was refreshing, light and it reminded me of the fresh iced tea that I normally got at the Salcedo Market. If, like me,  you don't like your drink that sweet, you can always request for the guys to add less syrup.

Was also able to try another one of their green tea bestsellers called Sunshine. If I remember correctly, this had ginger, calamansi and honey. This was also really good. Don't be turned off by the ginger since they only put a hint of it so the taste is not really overpowering.

Aside from their teas being reasonably-priced (slightly cheaper than the others), another thing I like about Zentea Mo. Ignacia is the fact that the store is really cozy. It's a place where you feel like hanging out with your friends for some chit-chat over a cup of milk tea.

My take on Stonehenge. The design on this changes daily
as customers love playing with it. It's so Zen!

If you're in the area, drop by their store located at the Mo. Ignacia Food Court just across ABS-CBN. They also deliver to buildings nearby for a minimum purchase.

Wingman's Classic Buffalo Wings...

is the only reason why I go to The Collective. I love their classic wings. The best I've had in the city so far.

Real Italian Pizza

This is what real Italian pizza looks like:

Parma Ham and Rucola Pizza

Had this at Al Porto Pizzeria during a visit to Lake Garda in Italy. Thin crust with a thin layer of tomato sauce, topped with prosciutto di parma, parmigiano reggiano and rucola (rocket or arugula are the more common names). Notice how they're not scrimping on the toppings unlike most of our pizza places here.

Tabacalera, Makati

Photo of the Alpha Entrance
For cigar and scotch aficionados, visit Tabacalera on the 6th floor of the Alphaland building in Makati. The ambience is that of a hotel bar minus the exorbitant prices. For non-scotch drinkers like me, the Alpha, located right beside the place, offers local beer, cocktails and wine on their menu.

Recently checked out the place and had this:

A dry martini with three olives (drool). Great tasting (has become a fave) and reasonably priced at only P165.

Pinoy Food with a Twist

Last night, I attended the graduation dinner of two of my sister's nieces-in-law. It was something that I really didn't wanna attend since it would just serve as a reminder that I am getting older until I found out that it was to be at Bistro Laudico. I have heard of the accolades, praises and have seen his ice cream commercial but have never really sampled any of his creations. Because of this, and the fact that it was going to be a free meal, I decided to accept the last-minute invitation.

Dinner started around 7pm. They have a promo for P788 where you can order whatever you want from the menu. The dishes may be shared for as long as the people you are sharing it with are also availing of the promo. There were a lot of choices from appetizers, soups, salads, rice dishes (silogs), pandeninis, main course, desserts and drinks.

Most of what's on the menu are Filipino dishes but with a twist. Some of what we ordered were the Angus beef Kare-kare, Binagoongang Cripy Pata, Wagyu and Lengua Estofado, Maja Blanca Cheesecake, Banana Q tart, Suman cake, Paella Arrozcaldo and a whole lot more.

While a lot of the guests loved the food, I, on the other hand, thought it was just ok .Call me unadventurous but a lot of the Pinoy dishes I grew up eating are what I'd consider "comfort food". I want them to taste exactly how I remember them to taste when I was younger. I guess there are just some things that are better left unchanged.

For the more adventurous, I recommend that you call ahead and inquire about their eat-all-you-can promo.

Bistro Laudico is loacted on the Ground Floor of the Net Square building in Bonifacio Global City.
